Franco-Dutch meetings for humanities and nonfiction publishers
Launched by the Institut français of Amsterdam in partnership with France Livre, these professional meetings aim to strengthen exchanges between Dutch and French publishers, to promote greater awareness of their catalogues, and to encourage new collaborations.
In 2022, three French publishers traveled to Amsterdam as part of a Séjour Perspectives program. The discussions held with their Dutch counterparts served as the basis for a study revealing that publishing in the field of history is particularly rich, although it mainly features works by Dutch authors. Philosophy, on the other hand, is more open to translations and enjoys notable success. Psychology is also an important topic in non-fiction publishing in the Netherlands.
In 2024, 586 French titles were sold for translation into Dutch (Belgium and the Netherlands), including 21 in the humanities and essay category (Netherlands).
